My greatest artistic influences are anonymous and ancient. They include the painters of sacred icons, the Inuit and other aboriginal carvers, the cave painters of Chauvet and Lascaux, the pre-historic sculptors who left behind the countless goddess figures still being unearthed in archaeological sites in old Europe, the native carvers of totem poles, masks, and vessels of ritual and utilitarian function. And always, more than any art in any gallery or museum, the natural world informs, inspires, influences and guides my life as an artist.
