ALABASTER
The alabaster I carve comes from Colorado and Utah. I use only basic manual tools; rasps, chisels, and files. I finish each piece with a beeswax polish.
My approach to carving is to see the form already there in the stone, rather than impose an idea of form upon it. I remove as little stone as is necessary for the inherent form to emerge.
